Dedication to professionalism and strong business ethics and industry standards are among the many reasons members site for joining the Metropolitan Builders Association. And they are the same reasons prospective home builders and remodelors should choose to work with an MBA member – because, ultimately, it’s the consumer that benefits from these association safeguards and initiatives.
A professional organization of builders, craftspeople, subcontractors and suppliers, the MBA currently boasts a roster of more than 1,300 members – more than 385 of which are builders. The association serves a five-county area including Jefferson, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties.
Continuing education opportunities are one of many benefits available to members through the MBA. The Association frequently offers seminars on federal regulations, building codes, business management, environmental and safety issues. Because building a home is probably the biggest investment most consumers make, the public is asking for businesses that display a commitment to professionalism and education. To answer this need the MBA has developed its own Certified Construction Professional certification. CCP Professionals demonstrate not only a knowledge of construction, but also a commitment to professionalism and customer service. “The Association and its leaders feel very strongly that this program not only gives our members additional value for their membership investment, but also helps support the MBA in its efforts to educate the public on the importance of using an MBA member for all of their building needs,” said Moroney.
To further the MBA’s commitment to continuing education and strong professionalism, the MBA offers a series of free consumer seminars designed to take homeowners through the various stages of building a home. In addition, in March, the MBA launched Abode, a high end direct mail piece designed to educate and entertain consumers on a variety of topics relating to the home building industry. This magazine has received rave reviews from MBA advertisers and consumers alike.
The MBA can also be utilized as a consumer resource if problems arise. We have long offered mediation and arbitration services to members and homeowners in an effort to resolve construction-related disputes before they reach the courtroom. MBA members all agree to binding arbitration, which gives home buyers some recourse if a dispute arises during the construction process. “The process of building or remodeling is more complex than most other buyer-seller transactions,” explains Moroney. “Even the best-written contract, site plan and specifications can leave room for legitimate interpretational differences.”
With so many resources available, the MBA is a clear choice for consumers looking into the home building or remodeling markets. Committed to honesty in building, the MBA has promoted integrity and sincerity in the construction industry for 64 years. |
